Original Musashi

Miyamoto Musashi, arguably the most famous Sword master in Japanese history, fought more than 60 duels before retiring and writing his famous treatise on swordplay, the Book of Five Rings". Musashi was well above average height and his Daito (long sword) was made to match his size. The long wooden handle is wrapped in ray-skin and then only the highest quality black leather is braided in the traditional pattern. The handle is attached to the full tang with two menkugi pins. The furniture is blackened steel and a brass habaki is used. The hardened carbon steel blade has been differentially clay-fired and a bo-hi runs the full length of the blade. This new version with the bo-hi has a scabbard with a powder coated Martial Arts finish which allows the scabbard to be more scratch resistant than the traditional gloss lacquered finish. Both swords come with a cleaning kit and in a cloth bag. This sword is sharp and ready for cutting.
